With a Police Officer

Donna Stevens, 22, and her ex-boyfriend Bobby Englebright, 24, alledgedly were in a dispute on Friday that resulted in Bobby Englebright being arrested for charges of aggravated assault, false imprisonment and battery.

Donna Stevens requested a police escort to go back to the residence with her to pick up the child at Englebright’s brother’s home.

Officer Daniel C. Martinez, 33,  accompanied her to the home of Richard Englebright to pick up the child. Allegedly when they knocked on the door, Richard Englebright answered and asked them to wait a minute. He then returned to the door with a weapon.

Officer Daniel C. Martinez was allegedly shot in the head and was later pronounced dead at the hospital. Donna Stevens reportedly was running from the home when she was shot in the back, shoulder and elbow. She is listed in serious condition.

Richard Englebright allegedly fled the scene. Police located the car and was preparing to stop it, when they say the car stopped in the road. As the officer prepared to go the vehicle, he reportedly heard a shot. Richard Englebright had allegedly shot himself in the head and died at the scene.

The child has been placed in the care of the maternal grandmother.

Officer Daniel C. Martinez was a police officer. But he was also a husband and father of five children.

Domestic violence incidents can be very dangerous for a police officer. Not only because of the person accused of the abuse, but also because in such a volatile, emotion filled situation it can be hard to determine how other family members- or even the victim will react in the situation.

Officers are very often caught in the middle, or could even end up with both sides attempting to take action on them.

Ex-boyfriend was arrested and taken to jail for alleged abuse. By now he knows what his brother is accused of doing- and his brother’s fate. It is hard to determine what his reaction will be. Will he accept his part in what happened? Or will he react as so many do… to blame others for the events they began.

Donna Stevens is currently in the hospital. There is a chance she will recover, and at some point her ex-boyfriend will get out of jail. I hope she seriously considers the situation and takes precautions for her own safety and the safety of the child.

The condition of Donna Stevens has been upgraded from serious to fair. More details on the allegations of  violence of the boyfriend, and on the shooting.

Actually, the Englebright child is still in the DCFS system in a shelter with other children his own age. The grandmother, who had never met him before Monday this week, is being considered for placement. I’ve spent several hours with the boy over the last two days. He is three-years-old, still in diapers – not pull ups – and can only voice a few intelligible words. He only eats with his hands and can’t handle a spoon or fork. When he was picked up by DCFS he was in a diaper, a T-shirt and nothing else. The poor child wants to tear off his shoes because he walks awkwardly in them. At this point it is difficult to tell how much of his difficulties are due to his obvious mental and physical deficits in addition to the trauma he went through seeing his mother being shot.

This is a child with his own disabilaties saying one word, “mommy,” over and over and over again when several strangers have been supportive since Friday. Let’s help this little boy.

Susan, thank you for the update. I wondered how the grandmother had gotten to the scene to get him so quickly. To a child, no matter how supportive the strangers, they want the ones they know- usually parents. What do you have in mind?

That poor kid is a flower trying to flourish in an asphalt wasteland! My heart goes out to him, I hope he finds “better soil” and can go on to thrive, find joy, and live a good productive life. Prayers sent.

I work with Officer Martinez’ Mother and The whole thing has been very taxing on her and her family. My sincere condolences and prayers go out to his family, wife and his children who will never get to see his smiling face or hear his voice again. It’s a horrible tragedy and has affected alot of people. We will miss him and are grateful for the sacrifices that he and his co workers make every day to keep us safe. Thank you Danny, you will be sorely missed.

I happen to know Donna Stevens and her whole Family. Donnas Mother is a drug user who contracted Hep.-C from sharing neddles and I hope and Pray that she does not have that child. She gave that child to his paternal GrandMother who had been raising him. She had a child before this one and sold him to a lesbian couple she had met on the internet. Donna moved to New Mexico to live with the couple, she then started trouble with them and had to move to Oklahoma. Donna Stevens started trouble as soon as she got back to Oklahoma, she lives for causing trouble and finds excitment in it. I have recently been told that she is still causing problems from her hospital bed! When Bobby Englebright got out of jail he came straight to Oklahoma and I am a witness. He didn’t even know what had happened until the day before his brothers funeral. Donna Steven is claiming that Bobby Englebright went to the Little Rock Hospital where she is to see her. That is totally impossible for him to have been in 2 places at once. He was supervised the entire time he was out of jail. When he went back to Arkansas for a court hearing he never got to have the hearing because they took him back to jail for the false aligations that Donna Stevens is making. The Fire Dept. and the city Police are witness to his whereabouts, as well as the Funeral Home and not to metion literally a hundred of his relatives and Family Friends. She will never stop causing trouble and she should be punished for her lies and most of all the death of Daniel. She is no innocent person! I pray that people see right through her and see how not only what a bad person she is, but her family as well, her family are all on drugs and threaten to kill people all the time. Last, but not least I know that Bobby Englebright loves his child very much and he would never hurt him in any way, nor would he allow anyone else to hurt that child. He is being judged and blamed for something he didn’t do and something he didn’t even know about. GOD is our Judge, God Knows everyones guilt and everyones innocence! Lets let GOD be the judge!

Forgot to add that the story about the child seeing his Mother shot is false. The child did not witness that.

ok, seems that you must be friends of the Englebright’s. However I know that alot of what is being posted here is false. For starters Capt. Pitts Of the Ft.Smith police Dept. has told me over the phone that yes, The child did witness what happened to his mother. Secondly, Donna did not know that Bobby had been arrested again, until she was told. The family received a call stating that he had tried to go see her at the hospital and that his bond had been revoked. She was unaware of any of this.

As to her first-born, you should not state things that you know nothing about.

She was going to go get her son, there was no reason for Richard to do what he did. Nobody blames Bobby, after all he was not there, and can not be held responsible for his brothers actions.

Nobody knows what Richard was thinking or why. You say that Donna should be punished, for what? Did she kill that cop? Did she shoot herself? Did she kill Richard? No.

As for you saying that you know her whole family…your wrong. Her mother didn’t get HepC from sharing needles, she got it from unprotected sex with her ex who also has HepC.

Donna’s son does not have a disorder. He witnessed his mother being shot, that would cause any child to shut down.

Just because you don’t like someone is no reason to spread lies about them like you have chosen to do.

If the Englebright’s are such a great family, why are there so many records of lawsuits, and protective orders against them? Why have they spread word in Oklahoma that they are gonna get the boy back no matter what it takes? For starters, Donna is the sole guardian of her son. not Bobby or his mother.

Know your facts before you spread lies here.

    post script:

You say you know her whole family, I doubt that. I, on the other hand do know her ENTIRE family. So you need to think before you try to speak.

I just happened to chance by this web site and thank the Lord for that.I would like to set Annie straight.Donna Stevens just wanted her baby back.As any mother would. That SOB had no reason to brutally kill Danny and then try to kill Donna,They were just there to get that baby. Now I have seen my neices cry for the last 2 months because the don’t have a daddy anymore. You see though they knew what a awesome person he was and that he is in heaven and the SOB WHO MURDERED is in hell FOREVER (AS HE SHOULD BE)!!!!!!!No one deserves to die a brutal unnecessary death. It was mean and cruel. So now I sit and wonder who is on drugs?Who is the liar who likes to start things?I don’t believ it was Donna Stevens!!!!!!!!

to those who are saying that richard englebright is in hell you have no right to say where he his. GOD will be the judge of that. i believe he is in heaven because my GOD is a very forgiven GOD. how about yours? lets not forget this “judge and you too will be judged”. you just might not like outcome. we are all GODS children lets not judge one another because you never know where you’ll end up! my thoughts are with both families but exspecially for the englebrights because i believe that the sadness they feel is the most awful feeling. losing a child and not to mention their grand child all in the same night. we will all learn from this and for those who don’t i feel for you. i also hope that the martinez kids are alright and are doing well in their life.

To Ashley, I believe that the sadness the Martinez family feels is the most awful feeling. Unlike the murderer Officer Martinez didn’t choose to die. He was murdered.
