He flew away

Police got a call Fri. from a woman who said she was from out of state. She said she had gotten a call from her brother Henry Fischbacher, 48. And she said that he had told her that he had killed his wife the day before. Allegedly he had told her that he had bludgeoned her to death and dragged her to the pool.

Police were dispatched for a ‘welfare check’. At the home police found the body of Lisa Fischbacher, 47, in the pool. Police have stated that the evidence at the scene matched what the caller had said on the phone. It is believed that she had died sometime in the previous 24 hours prior to being found.

Henry Fischbacker was not present and police began a search for him. On Saturday a warrant was sworn out for his arrest.

Fischbacker was found on Monday morning, in Canada. Police found him when they were responding to a medical assistance call in a motel. Fischbacker reportedly attempted to commit suicide. Police did not disclose information on the suicide attempt, but they say that Fischbacker is expected to live. They are also not releasing the motive, though they did say that Fischbacker does have a history of mental illness.

It is believed that after the murder Fischbacker flew from Pheonix to Buffalo, then took a rental car across the border into Canada.

Extradition has been requested back to Tucson as soon as Fischbacker is able to leave the hospital. Under Canadian law in a capital case, Canada must receive assurances that the death penalty will not be applied except in exceptional circumstances before extradition can be applied.

I worked with Lisa for a year and a half. She was such a delightful women, she had so much personality and spunk. I often had a religious quote or funny email in my inbox. I loved knowing her she will be missed deeply.
