He failed

Late Saturday night, 911 got a call. When they responded they found Candice Langston, 23 and her boyfriend Gary Miller, 26 outside Langston's apartment building wounded. Inside the Langston/Smith apartment deputies found the body of 45-year-old Sharon Smith, Candice's mother.

Reportedly, Candice's ex-boyfriend Thomas Johnson, 21 came looking for her Sat. night. She wasn't home, but her mother was. Allegedly after he shot Smith, Johnson left the building and ran into Candice and her boyfriend who were just arriving. Johson allegedly opened fire, wounding them and Johnson then fled the scene.

Authorities are now looking for Thomas Johnson. They say he goes by the nickname T.J. He is considered armed and dangerous. The investigation is continuing.

Candice Smith and Gary Miller were rushed to the hospital, where they are reported to be in fair condition.

Likely it didn't work out like he had planned. He arrives there looking for his ex-girlfriend and since she wasn't there, he instead shoots her mother. And during his getaway, who pulls up but his ex-girlfriend and her new boyfriend. There is no way he could have planned on that.

So the person he came to see and probably to kill, is still alive. Grieving but still alive. And so is the new boyfriend. Probably not what he had planned.

Yet he is still likely to be tried for murder when he is found. Murder of a woman whose only "crime" was that she was home.

Now he may say it was "love" that caused him to do this. "If he couldn't have her, no one would". Just like in his planning, he was wrong. His ex-girlfriend and her current boyfriend are alive. And it doesn't sound like "love". It sounds like rage, and control, and jealousy.

He was wrong. His ex-girlfriend and her boyfriend may be in a lot of pain. But they will recover and go on with their lives. Johnson, however may be looking at a trial and prison. He will have plenty of time to think about how he failed.

Thomas Allen Johnson, 21, has been arrested in New York and will be extradited back to Broward County to face charges of one count of 1 st degree murder and 2 counts of attempted murder.

Ah, to be young, in love, and homicidal…

This lad’s got more than a few problems on his hands. I’m sure he’ll be getting a lot of love for a long time where he’s going when they catch him.

I don’t know why so many people think that murder is the way to solve a problem they are having with someone. It not only doesn’t solve the problem, it just starts a whole bunch of other problems.

Tamara, my best wishes to you and your family. I am sorry about what happened to your aunt. I do hope her daughter and her daughter’s friend have recovered.
Johnson will have God to deal with. But before he gets there he has a lot more to go through. Has the trial started yet?

Candace you can think of one thing. The thing that is most important to a Mother at a time like that, is for her child to survive. I am sure your Mother knows you made it and that she is happy because of that. I too am glad you survived. You will never forget her, and will always love her. In that way we all continue to live in a way.
