Missing her 18 th Birthday and First Mother’s Day

Linda Miller's family was concerned about her. A new mother of a 4 month old baby, she would be having her 18 th birthday next week, as well as her first Mother's Day. They also knew she was being beaten by her boyfriend Brian Ethridge, 26. And she kept going back to him. It has been said that he once broke her jaw in two places. Charges were never filed because she refused to prosecute.

Miller's father has said that Ethridge started coming around when his daughter was 16, but she wasn't allowed to see him. They may have continued the relationship, though it ended when Ethridge was sent to prison. He is now on parole.

They had a chance meeting in a store this year and began dating again until Ethridge broke her jaw. That is thought to have ended the relationship.

Ethridge is not the baby's father. The family says that Miller left on Sun. to take the baby to see her father, and the family believe that Ethridge somehow found Miller on the way.

Linda Miller was found Sun. night in the middle of the road. She had been stabbed more than 80 times and she died shortly afterwards.

Witnesses saw the person who left her there and saw the car he was driving. Police say they got a good look at both. Brian Ethridge has been named as a suspect and police say he is to be considered armed and dangerous. He is believed to have both a shotgun and a knife. He is believed to be driving Miller's car.

At some point on Sun. Ethridge is believed to have driven to a friend's home and left the 4 month old baby. The child was unharmed.

I don't know why a 26 year old parolee was being permitted to spend the night with a 17 year old in her father's home. And especially if he was being violent with her before he broke her jaw.

Ethridge is on the run now. He would have to know that police would be after him, and likely he is desperate.

I am thankful that he never harmed the baby, but she will be growing up without her mother. The family has lost their daughter/sister. Next week they will be facing the first birthday without her, the first Mother's Day without her, and making funeral plans at the same time.

And I would guess that some witnesses are probably pretty shaken. I know if someone dumped a body riddled with stab wounds in front of me, I would probably be pretty shaken.

And again a big thank you to Soobs for the update on this one. Ethridge surrendered himself to police in Tenn. Miller's car was located.

Ethridge's mother has said that her son has a criminal history, but nothing to indicate he was capable of murder. She was aware he drinking and driving and possibly using illegal drugs. She stated she had contacted the probation office last month and almost begged that they revoke his probation.

Ethridge had been picked up for driving on a revoked license in Dec. and for driving with a revoked license in a vehicle with no plates earlier this year.

In Mar. his estranged wife sought and received a restraining order against him.

On April 26, a warrant was issued for his arrest for violating his parole.

Another wimp, taken into custody, “without incident.”

Brian Ethridge, on the run since the fatal stabbing Sunday of his 17-year-old girlfriend, told his mother he wanted to die in a shootout with police, but surrendered peacefully Tuesday to sheriffs

I was a friend of Linda’s. She was a very sweet girl, who just got mixed up with the wrong crowd. Yesturday, I caught a glimpse of an updated news report. Ethridge was saying that he was sorry and he didn’t mean to do it, but I don’t understand how anyone could accidendlty stab someone that many times. Another problem the family is facing is a custody battle between Maria Miller’s (Linda’s daughter) father, age 19, who wants to care for his daughter.

I was a neighbor of Linda Miller. She used to come and visit me and my family. Our last visit with Linda, was at the funeral home on what would have been her first Mothers Day. Linda was a sweet girl, and she was so proud of her baby girl Mariah. Linda was not a bad kid, she just got mixed up with a guy who turned out to be a monster. I can’t even imagine having so much rage and anger that you would even have the energy to stab someone 86 times. I am glad that Brian Ethridge is behind bars awaiting trial. I sincerely hope that he receives the death penalty. In the state of Missouri, capital punishment is carried out by lethal injection. In the case of Brian Ethridge, I think he should be stabbed 86 times, left to die on a lonely country road out in the middle of nowhere in the middle of the night. The same way he left Linda Miller. It haunts me to think what went on in Linda’s mind as she was being stabbed to death. I know it will haunt me for the rest of my life.

I am Brian’s cousin. Brian was full of range and anger. He did not have a good childhood and was heavily involved in drugs. I’m very ashamed of what he did…and feel very badly for Linda’s family. Our family hurts as well and we have to live with what he did and it eats away at us every day…

brian was a bad person, meth head, junkie. bad childhood is no excuse for the way he acted. always fighting and being an ass. the would would be better if he would have died in a standoff.
