I am afraid that I don’t even know where to begin

Tammy Skinner 22, was pregnant. Doctors say she was 7 to 9 months pregnant. After the shooting the baby died.

At 4:11 am she made a call from her cell phone, and reported that someone had shot her. Her car was found in the same parking lot where she was found. And she claimed not to recall who shot her.

Skinner was arrested yesterday. For illegally inducing an abortion. They considered charging her with murder, but decided not to, as the child had not been born. She is also charged wtih using a firearm in the commission of a felony and a misdemeanor count of filing a false police report.

Now I just do not understand. She didn’t get an abortion. I don’t know if that was because she couldn’t afford the cost, or if she just waited too long, then changed her mind about the pregnancy. If she had waited until the birth, it would not have cost her anything to sign the adoption papers and make another couple happy and offer the child the chance at a happy life.

Was she afraid of childbirth? I feel pretty certain that getting shot would be painful. And then there would either have to be surgery or a form of childbirth to remove the remains of the child.

Was she perhaps trying to get revenge on a boyfriend? Maybe the father of the child was refusing to accept reponsibility? Again, she just had a couple of months at the most and she could have offered the baby up for adoption.

Did she really think she would get by with it? Sorry folks, but with all of the forensics techniques they have today the chances of getting by with a serious crime are getting slimmer and slimmer. Especially those crimes committed against yourself.

Thanks for stopping in OptyMyst. That is indeed very interesting. My state already has a similiar law, but I am happy to see that they are taking it National.
You know, no matter what a persons personal feelings are about a legal abortion, I just cannot imagine anyone voluntarily shooting themselves in the stomach to kill their child.
