The children should come first

Alberto Hernandez, 38, has been arrested in the rape and attempted murder of a young girl. All police would say is that she was between the ages of 12 and 16.

Allegedlly Hernandez raped the girl, then attempted to kill her. It happened at 8:15 am. The mother was in the home at the time. The girl is in serious condition in the hospital, with serious trauma to her upper body.

Hernandez has been charged with sexual assault with a gun, and attempted murder.

Police have said that Hernandez was recently removed from the home, due to an investigation that he may have previously abused the girl.

Now I don’t know if this mother knew of any abuse occurring previously. But surely she knew of the possibilities of it after the investigation was begun. I would have to question why he was in the home at that time of the morning, while the child was still at home. And the initial call that came in was for an emergency transport to a hospital. They do not indicate any calls recieved for a break in or a rape. I guess I would question how much the mother knew of what was going on, and when she knew it? And why the H____ was this guy back in the home? anyway?

I wonder what the mother is thinking now, as she waits for word on her daughter’s health? I wonder if she has any regrets? And I really have to wonder, was the guy worth her daughter’s life?

I hope the child recovers physically. And even if she does, it will take a lot longer for the emotional recovery.

Not putting children first (in all cases) is utter selfishness!
